RE: Traveling with fresh water tank full

When buying our last TT the dealer said it would handle on the road better if my FW tank was full. It's situated in front and ahead of both wheels. I didn't agree. I pulled it home full, 40 miles. Next time it was empty and I could tell no difference.

RE: entry handle loose

Have you removed the screw covers and examined the attachment screws?
There should be two on each bracket. Maybe retighten?

RE: HELP NEEDED

Any good and reputable dealer will almost always have several loaners. The one I worked at for several years had four rentals and would even pull a slightly used unit off the lot to rent, lease, or use in you're case. Sounds like your dealer is not living up to the phrase "the customer comes first."

RE: the Mysteries of the gray water tanks -- Jayco 318

One tank probably takes care of the kitchen sinks and the other could be for shower water only. Two gray tanks are useful when dry camping. To find out which is which just add water to one at a time and see which one empties outside.

RE: question about camping...What do you think???

I've been there too. Next time I plan to string up a couple of clothes lines and party lights in strategic spots. :)

RE: Black water guage lies! Or not?

I've heard of some folks putting a few bags of crushed ice in the black tank. Then drive around and agitate it. It's supposed to scrub the tank and probes.

RE: My Black Tank Clog Strategy

Do not put these items in toilet
Facial tissues, paper towels, sanitary products (including those labeled flushable).
Detergents or bleach. Use a sewage tank deodorizer.
Automotive antifreeze, ammonia, alcohols, or acetones.
Grease from cooking, table scraps or other solids that may cause clogging.

RE: Slide Locks

After working at a large RV dealership for 3 years I can say you should always use slide locks if they were part of the original equipment. You will hear some dealers say you dont need them. I heard that excuse used a lot when they couldn't find the locks that were delivered with the unit. RV dealers have a habit of robbing other campers just to get them out the door. Then one comes along without locks. Thats when you'll hear it doesn't need them. Ask too look at the invoice. It may have them listed there. Ask a lot of questions. Never accept "I don't know". Walk away too. You can always come back another day and maybe deal with a better sales person.;)

RE: Are Jaycos' Good Trailers?

There are a lot of folks on here that swear by them.
I am one of those folks. Out of the four I've owned three were Jaycos. I bought my first Jayco in 1977. Second in 1980. Both I sold for almost what I paid new for them. Then I made the mistake of buying a Coachmen. It was trouble from the start. Now I own a 2000 Jayco 266 FBS. We love it. No problems at all. A quality and solid built camper. As for the price it seems to be in the neighborhood of others. I noticed in Jayco that the inside walls aren't flimsy like some of the others. Most use the same things like faucets, showers, etc. IMO the quality comes in how it was constructed from the frame, walls, subfloor. roof. Jayco or nothing for me. :)

replaced assist handle

I replaced my original assist handle beside the entrance door with one of those large ones that can be swung to the side to stow. I was able to cover the old screw hole with the top bracket but not the bottom hole. Any ideas how I might make this look better? I have it covered with white caulk now. My camper doesn't have the smoothe sides. Thanks for any and all replies. :h
